Amidst the devastating Australian bushfires, Angie thought she was adding a helping hand when posting a photo to her Instagram promoting a brand that will donate to the fires.
“We have been praying for the rain. Our country needs it. So many amazing people, companies, business etc. have donated their time and money to supporting people in need across the nation,” read her caption, showing Angie in a swimsuit alongside a bunch of Bondi Sands product.
“One of my favourites @bondisands have donated $100k to the @salvosau and @wireswildliferescue and have released products with proceeds going to the cause,” the 29-year-old wrote.
“As much as we want the rain we’ve got to be thankful for our glorious sun too!” Angie urged her followers to head to Priceline Pharmacy and purchase the products.
But fans weren’t impressed that Angie would be receiving money in the guise of helping out.
“This some f**ked up sh*t that you can turn the fires into an ad for fake tan. SMH,” a riled up fan posted.
“Did you donate your fee from this ad to the fires?” wrote another fan.
“You’re promoting sunscreen??!! Gees girl! Talk about being paid for the Instagram post….shame on you, shame shame shame #heartless.”
“This some f**ked up sh*t that you can turn the fires into an ad for fake tan. SMH.”
Yikes.
This is the comment that urged Angie to reply, and defend herself.
“Not fake tan dolls. It’s sunscreen. I’d do anything to raise money for the fires yes. Seeing negative in a positive situation? Not what we want up in here.”
“How come people can’t make money to live and give their money to the fires? I’m doing both. Everyone has to eat.
“I’m not asking you if you donated an entire pay check to the fires. We all do what we can in times of need and that’s what I’m doing.”
Ouch!
Luckily there were other fans who praised Angie for helping out in any way she can.
