Just by making the decision to enter, you’re showing yourself the kind of self-belief we’re all about at GF.

This comp is about putting yourself out there, being your own awesome self, and showing us what you’ve got.

That said, it’s important to remember that you do only get one entry — so, you’ve gotta make it count!

Luckily, we’ve got your back. We’ve put together our top 5 tips for making sure your entry stands out.

1. Keep it simple

We’re all for embracing your individuality and wearing whatever makes you feel like your best self. But at the end of the day, we want to be able to see YOU.

So, while elaborate eye makeup is gorge for Instagram and bucket hats are cool for the streets, we recommend keeping accessories and makeup to a minimum in your entry photo.

A simple T-shirt and jeans with one statement accessory that shows off your personality (like, earrings or a necklace) is always a fab choice.

2. Nail your backdrop

While we all love a pretty coloured wall or nature setting, it’s best to keep your photo background simple, too.

It might sound boring, but getting your photo taken against a plain, white wall or neutral-coloured wall keeps our judge’s on the most important thing: you!

Bright backdrops and busy patterns can be distracting, which isn’t the result you’re going for.

Oh, and on a similar note, photos tend to look best in natural light, as there’s less harsh shadows. Try taking your pic near a window, a couple of hours after sunrise or a couple of hours before sunset. So, before or after school, work or uni is perf!

3. Keep it clear

Do your parents take photos that are so blurry, they look they were taken on a potato? Probably best to rope in a tech-savvy friend, sibling or classmate to take your snap, instead.

In order to make sure your photo showcases you in the best possible light, you’ll want to make sure your pic is clear and of a high quality.

You’ll also want to steer clear of any filters or photo presets, as these can make your photo grainy and obscure your features.

Another no-no? Snapchat filters (think dog ears and anime eyes) Soz, they’re cute for your feed, but not for this comp!

4. Shoot from the waist up

When you’re getting your photo taken for your entry, ask your photographer to shoot from the waist up.

This is close enough for us to get a good look at your gorge features, but far enough to give us the whole picture.

You can use the example below as your guide!

5. Remember what makes you unique

We want you to embrace all those little things that make you YOU, not hide them!

So, whether you’ve got freckles, a gap in your teeth, naturally curly hair or dimples, own them.

At the end of the day, it’s these little differences that can help you stand out against the crowd!

The same goes for your posing. Feel free to inject a little personality and strike a pose in a way that feels really natural for you!
