While we weren’t even looking, 5 Seconds of Summer completely snatched our wigs.
The band that hadn’t released music in three years came back with the most face-melting tunes ever… and before we knew it we were firing up 5SOS fan-fic while wearing their merch and buying ALL the tickets to their new shows.
It was wild.
So why the hell are they worried about their upcoming album, Youngblood?
Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood have taken to the band’s Instagram story today to express how Ariana Grande, Drake, Shawn Mendes and Kanye West are all releasing records at the same time as them. “It’s gonna be fine right? It’s gonna be okay?” Ashton asks.
The fact that the boys don’t think their fans are going to go absolutely HAM when their album comes out is ridiculous, and we’ll give you a few reasons why:
“YOUNGBLOOD”
There’s not much more we can say about this song other than what we wrote here. But TL;DR: it’s the sexiest break up song we’ve ever heard and we can’t help but get in a MOOD when we hear it. Not to mention the fact that we’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since its release. All we can imagine is Ashton banging on those drums. Help.
THEIR EVOLVING TALENT
Not that the boys weren’t talented before their new music, but since we’ve all gone through some growing up in the past 3 years, we can seriously relate to the bands new sound. They’re more mature and maybe even a little darker.
For anyone who ever had any doubts about 5SOS and their return, we only have two official songs released so far and we’re already planning on going to more than one live show of theirs.
WHO THEY ARE AS PEOPLE, WHICH IS FKING FUNNY
If you keep watching their Instagram story, you’ll see that Cal and Ashton are back to their hilarious ways, which we’ve honestly missed so much.
Trying to figure out a way to make their album release more appealing (not needed), Ashton has put on his manager cap and decides that the best way to get more sales is to appeal to what the fans want: cardboard cut outs. Most importantly, ones of Niall Horan and Liam Payne.
Seeing as we have a Harry Styles‘ and Louis Tomlinson cut out in our office RN, they’re reaching the right audience. Those two would give us the full 1D package.
We’re obsessed. The world is obsessed. 5SOS, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.
