Before they drop their third studio album, The 1975 headed to BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and gave a cover performance of Ariana Grande’s latest track, “thank u, next.”
Matty Healy, the lead singer, joked, ”[Ariana’s] got a great voice. And I don’t. So I’m gonna sing one of her songs.”
Matty explained how he has become more of an Ariana fan as she is a “protagonist” in the lives of many people.
He added that she’s “somebody I’ve started to really care about for some reason. She’s had a right old tough time and I like her a lot. I think she’s cool.”
At 2:23:45 in the clip, you can hear the cover.
The 1975′s new album, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, will be released on November 30.
