You may have noticed a new show hit your Netflix homepage recently, called Dear White People.
It's a pretty confronting headline, and even before it aired it was causing a bit of a stir online.
People were originally labeling the show "anti-white" after seeing its trailer, with someone even tweeting, "Imagine if there was a show called Dear Black People.' Cities would burn, This anti-white rhetoric needs to stop".....
The show follows a black girl who attends a predominately white college campus, and although the headline is questionable, some people have turned it into a positive by actually starting a "Dear Black People" trend on Twitter.
"Dear black people... I'm sorry for undermining your experiences with my racial privilege."
"Dear Black People, sorry for the systematic oppression we caused barring you from equal education, housing, led you into the prison system."
"Dear Black People... I'm sorry for our history of oppression and genocide."
The trend is highlighting the fact that the point of the show is to bring awareness challenges that black people have to deal with daily.
