The Australian broke the news reporting that the streaming service was testing weekend surcharge pricing, however they have denied these specifics.
“We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points to better understand how consumers value Netflix,” the company said in a statement to TechRadar.
“Not everyone will see this test and we may not ever offer it generally.”
The move comes as the Australian federal government prepares to put a 10 per cent tax on streaming services in the new financial year.
While they're testing the waters to see how much a select sample are willing to pay to stream their favourite shows, Netflix has confirmed these hiked prices won't be permanent out of fairness.
"People who were part of the test get the normal price at the end of the test."
Um, not here for that!
