We called it, 2017 is year of the mermaid! 2016 may have belonged to Unicorn's, but this year it's your half-fishy fantasies that are taking over. Leading the pack is food stylist Adeline Waugh from Insta account @vibrantandpure who has given up her rainbow toast ways and started munching on mermaid toast! Naturally, Insta is obsessed with the gorgeous spread.
Srsly, it's the prettiest darn thing since Ariel stepped out of the ocean in that glittery purple gown at the end of The Little Mermaid!
How is it made you ask? Well it's SUPER healthy despite it's ~lush~ appearance. The recipe is almond milk cream cheese dyed different shades using blue green algae powders and liquids. ALL THE HEALTH!
People have started recreating their own versions (some with food colouring instead of algae) even though the 'inventor' claims she never intended to start a trend. Adeline has posted a pic of the toast saying: "I've never claimed to be starting a trend or a putting out a new recipe that is super practical- it's 100% impractical, I just like to play around in the kitchen and attempt to create something aesthetically pleasing and unique from time to time."
