However, their innocent lunch has been turned into some rather outrageous accusations.
Following Martin's picture, headlines began to react negatively to Meghan's brunch choice with one headline saying: 'How Meghan’s favourite avocado snack – beloved of all millennials – is fuelling human rights abuses, drought and murder.’
A quote from the article reads: "The campaigning duchess may be passionate when it comes to racial equality and female empowerment, but for someone who wants to save the planet, she’s committed something of a faux pas with avocados."
The story goes on to highlight the demands of the avocado trade, but is Meghan's predilection for some avocado on toast solely responsible? We think not.
Naturally, Twitter erupted calling out publications for their articles.
"Meghan Markle’s avocado on toast ‘fuelling drought and murder'? Another example of how the media shamelessly uses royals," another added.
A third said: "The amount of heat Meghan gets is too much. Also guarantee someone in their office is having avocado on toast at brunch this weekend."
The Duchess has been subjected to an onslaught of negative press over the last few months and is reportedly growing increasingly frustrated.
A royal insider told Us Weekly: "She’s always relied on her own voice to stand up for others, and for herself. So not being able to say anything is a debilitating feeling. She’s always been so independent, her entire life, and that’s all been taken away from her. She’s always been able to clap back on social media and now she can’t."
However, considering that she’s excitedly expecting her first child in just a matter of months, we doubt she’s got time to read how her avocado on toast is affecting the world.
