It got so severe, that he had to call the emergency room and be rushed to the hospital because of an anxiety attack.
Thankfully, supportive wife Lauren was there by his side.
Later making their way to dinner, the pair had a deep conversation about a traumatic experience when he was a teen, when Matthew lose his neighbour in a shocking death.
"He was my mentor, I was feeling good, one day he finished working on a boat and he said I'll be back later. And he never came back. He actually died testing that boat," Matt said.
"Probably not the best topic of conversation," he quipped.
The story brought Lauren to tears. "I'm sorry that that happened to you," she replied.
She then said: "I knew there was a reason why Matt wasn't feeling confident it made a lot of sense now."
After that bright conversation, they banged.
"Last night I lost my virginity and it was a beautiful moment. I think it was worth the 29-year wait," Matthew said.
