No, the aliens aren’t coming to get us (yet), it’s a V. rare Super Blue Bloody Moon that occurs once every 150 years.
We’re sure you have loads of questions about this intriguing lunar activity and some of you will be wanting to hear about it from the straight forward astronomical perspective (as in factual NASA type info) and some of you will wanna know about the ~astrological~ side (meaning how the lunar energy will impact us).

What the heck is a Super Blue Blood Moon?
According to the next-level geniuses at NASA, a ‘super moon’ occurs when the moon is at its fullest as it reaches its closest point to the Earth, making it look super bright.
The ‘blue’ part comes in when the moon is one of two full moons that month.
And as for the ‘blood’ portion, this occurs as the moon passes through the Earth’s shadow, creating a total lunar eclipse and while it’s in the shadow, it appears reddish.
So just for the record, despite its scary name, the blood moon actually has nothing to do with human blood. It’s just the colour the moon gives off as it passes by the Earth.
This is the first time that this has happened in 150 years, and will also be the last in a trilogy of super moons over the past two months.

Will I need fancy goggles to shield my eyes?
Nope! Unlike a solar eclipse, the Super Blue Blood Moon is completely safe to look at through the naked eye.
So what does it mean for us on earth?
As you can tell by the super wacky lunar movements, the super blue blood moon carries V. important astrological significance.
The moon is believed to be a symbol of human emotions, hence why people tend to get a little wacky during the full moon, so when you add on the vibes of the super, blue and blood moon as well as the lunar eclipse, people’s emotions are bound to be ~extremely~ heightened.
It’s also a time when secrets and hidden feelings will come to light, whether we want them to or not.
“This eclipse may bring forward emotions to heal the past from wherever your heart has been stomped on, taken advantage of, or wherever you feel that you have been deceived,” says Donna Page, a professional astrologer with a graduate degree in counselling psychology.
“It is a time when messages from the other side are easier to hear,” Page says. “This eclipse will bring to you an opening to your creative side.”
Will everyone be able to see the moon?
As with all lunar activity, visibility will depend on the weather and unforch it’s set to be rainy AF across most of Australia tonight… So cross your fingers and hope for clear skies tonight so we can see the moon in all its bloody glory!
