Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of us have hopped onto the apps, slid into the DMs and started online dating. Now that we’re in August (can you believe?), we’re well beyond the honeymoon stage and things might start to get a bit too real—according to the BBC, lockdown may lead to a “surge” in breakups. So, with that in mind, it’s a good thing Girlfriend fave Miley Cyrus has given us some much needed advice on how to handle a breakup.
According to E! News, Cyrus, who just split from Cody Simpson, opened up about love, sex and everything in between in a recent episode of the podcast, Call Her Daddy. The former Disney star addressed her “very, very public, very big breakup that was over a 10-year span of a relationship,” to Aussie star Liam Hemsworth.
“Sitting with me now, I would hope you find me to be somewhat this way, which is not the public perception, is I’m very logical. I’m very organised and very kind of centre.”
“And so, I love lists. Lists keep my whole f**king world on track. My world would be wrecked if I didn’t make lists. Every day I have a list of ‘What do I want? How am I gonna achieve it? What’s the next step?’ And so, with heartbreak, I tried to not get lost in the emotion.”
The actress continued, explaining that whenever she experiences a breakup, she lists the good and the bad of her ex-partner and that relationship to remind herself what she values and doesn’t value in future romance. A lil bit of self-reflection and self-worth? We love to see it!
“Make a list of what you were gaining and what you were losing,” she suggested on the pod. “What they were contributing to your life and what they were subtracting. Value each of these things by 1 through 10, and then you add them all up. If the person was adding more to your life, then you know what is expected for your next relationship. And what they were subtracting—you know what you will not accept ever again.”
So, you might be wondering during all this: what does Liam think about Miley now? Well, according to a new report by US Weekly, it’s, uhh, not great. In fact, a year on from their split, and the younger Hemsworth heartthrob has “a very low opinion” of Miley.
“He was really hurt by their split,” a source told US. “Miley and Liam haven’t talked much since their divorce. Liam was hurt by Miley moving on with new love interests shortly after they broke up.”
“Liam is happy to have moved on and is living a completely different life now,” an insider shared with E! News, in a bit more polite way. “The way things ended between them didn’t sit well [with him] and he was saddened by it all. It took him time to come to terms with the end of their relationship and to process it all.”
Elsewhere on the pod, Cyrus opened up about her fluid sexuality, how she liked women before realising she liked men, the first time she had sex, and, uh, this lil nugget of info:
“When I was like 11 years old, I used to think that like Minnie Mouse was super f–king hot, which is so good I ended up on Disney, so my chances with Minnie went up by like 100.”
