It has emerged that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new title’s as Duke and Duchess of Sussex might not be passed down if the couple only have girls.
An old UK law states that only a son born from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would inherit the dukedom.
Royal laws of succession were changed in 2013 to become gender-neutral, meaning that women can maintain their place in line to the throne, despite having younger male heirs.
This meant that Princess Charlotte was the first member of the British Royal Family to keep her position in line to the throne despite the birth of her brother Prince Louis.
BUT, the rules of peerage have not changed, which means that only male heirs inherit the title, not daughters.
This is likely to come as a shock to Meghan, who has previously stated her strong feminist beliefs.
“I am proud to be a woman and a feminist,” she said at the UN back in 2015.
Fingers crossed the laws are changed.
