WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SONG TO DANCE TO?

“I can’t help myself dancing every time I hear “That’s What I Like” by Bruno Mars.”

Same gurl… same.

HOW MUCH OF YOUR LIFE IS DEDICATED TO DANCE & BRENT STREET?

“I spend six out of seven days a week at Brent Street and I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else! It’s really like my home away from home. Each day is a new exciting challenge that I can’t wait to tackle.

“I really am so proud to be a part of the Brent Street family and I feel so privileged to receive all the opportunities it has provided for me. The teachers are super supportive and encouraging and the students make being there every day such a joy. I can never wipe the smile off my face when I’m there.”

WHAT DOES A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JAYME JO LOOK LIKE?

“I’m up and out of the house at 6:30am on the way to Brent Street for an 8:40am start. I go into my first dance class of the day with each class running for an hour and a half, so, I really get the chance to improve each style!

“After my first class I got into three hours of school work – I am studying part time – then, we have another hour and a half dance class until 4pm. From 4-5pm we have a break, and then after, my friends and I start more classes and they are so much fun!

“We do ballet, musical theatre, hip hop and many more that get us ready for dance competitions. We also take singing and acting classes along side dance. I am happy to be pushed an extend my skills as a performer, daily.”

ANY ADVICE FOR ASPIRING DANCERS?

“Never give up on your goals and make sure that every single day you are doing something that will help you achieve them! It takes a lot of patience, but the results are always so worth it, so, keep pushing and believe in yourself.”

THE BEST PART OF BEING A DANCER IS?

“For me, the best part of being a dancer is the ability to express how I am feeling through movement. It’s like my body has its own language. Also, the feeling I get when I’m on stage performing is like no other!”
