We love a travelgram don’t we? But what’s the most popular place? Well we now have the 20 most-instagrammed places IN THE WORLD for 2016. Paris and New York fight it out to get the most on the list, while theme parks rate highly coz fun and there’s a wild card or two just to keep you going “huh?“.
We don’t have any #bigdata on how many times each place was ‘grammed but we’re gonna assume it’s a lot since Instagram has over 500 million users. Without further chit chat, here’s the top spots to hashtag.
Disney Theme Parks
With parks in several countries and all that Disney magic it’s no surprise people are sharing snaps from the ‘happiest place on earth’.
Universal Studios Theme Parks
See above reason of FUN. Also, Harry Potter theming makes it impossible not to share.
Central Park, New York City
A stunning, ever-changing location that’s always insta-worthy no matter the season.
Times Square, New York City
Did you even go to New York if you didn’t Instagram Times Square?
Eiffel Tower, Paris
Iconic but difficult to capture in a square, how could you not share the heart of Paris?
Louvre Museum, Paris
All that priceless art combined with a GIANT glass pyramid as a stunning backdrop! Yeah, we’d post a jumping picture of us outside.
Las Vegas Strip
Ooooh pretty lights! Plus, you gotta show off how much fun you’re having at the Britney concert. #MustGram.
Santa Monica Pier, Los Angeles
The old-school pier fun park is always sunny and with the waves crashing below you while you chow down on a hotdog, it’s too fun not to share.
Brooklyn Bridge, New York
If you walk it, you’r gonna ‘gram it. Facts. Extra points for getting an artistic sunset shot.
Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva, Moscow
WILD CARD! We hadn’t heard about this place until we wrote the list so we did some research and found out it’s an exhibition centre and amusement park. It’s always changing and has a STUNNING friendship fountain.
Siam Paragon, Bangkok
Another wild card! This place is shopping mall. But not just any shopping mall… it’s HUGE. Like, crazy huge.
Colosseum, Rome
Ancient history nestled alongside modern Italian culture. ‘Nuff said.
Madison Square Gardens, New York
The sporting arena is home mainly to basketball BUT the indoor arena is also happy to hold a Justin Bieber concert. Plus celebs hang out here all the time.
Los Angeles Airport
People have to get places and after a long-haul flight we’d be Instagramming us stretching our legs too.
Tower Bridge, London
London is home to hundreds of iconic buildings but Tower Bridge beats Buckingham Palace. Equal parts beautiful and eerie, just try not to think about the fact it used to be a prison…
Barcelona, Spain
You know all those pics of endless berries and colourful juices? That’s from the market in Barcelona called La Boqueria. But that’s not all Barcelona has! It’s got a beach, streets older than your great-great-great grandmas, statues of people you’ve ~actually~ heard of and AMAZING architecture.
Notre Dame, Paris
The cathedral may have been started being built in 1163 (it didn’t get finished until 100 years later) but people STILL can’t get enough of it. Resting next to the Seine River, it’s a jaw-dropping building worthy of a post alright.
Empire State Building, New York
CONCRETE JUNGLE WHERE DREAMS ARE MAAAAAADE OF! While Times Square shows one side of NY, the Empire State shows the other side; the one of hopes and dreams.
Niagara Falls, USA and Canada
Weird that only one natural wonder made it on the list right? But the four million cubic feet of water (on average!) the 17 falls drop every minute is certainly worthy of being on here!
If you don’t have a bucket list, this is a great place to start. But tbh, we’re kinda mad Bondi Beach didn’t get a look in.
