Halsey has had enough with President of the United States Donald Trump’s behaviour during the 2020 presidential election.
Back in 2014, Halsey released the music video to “New Americana.” Ft. a Hunger Games-inspired revolution, the clip followed teens rioting and confiscating guns off what looks like army forces and police, before freely running in the wild carefree. And, in the middle of the U.S. election, it now feels like it predicted today’s current political climate.
“Gen Z: tonight we lead a revolution to take back our freedom,” wrote one tweet with an excerpt from the clip.
In case you missed it and respectfully decided to stay offline yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump falsely decided to claim he had won the election before the remaining mail-in votes were counted for, threatening to take the decision to the Supreme Court. FYI, a majority of the mail-in ballots are believed to be for Joe Biden, meaning that this is Trump’s unjust way to get the result he wants, something that Halsey called him out for over on Twitter.
“Trump is basically just skewing logic anyway he can at this point,” she wrote. “In regards to close but not called states, if he’s up, he says it counts. If he’s down, he says it doesn’t count. He says people voting for Biden are “disenfranchising” his supporters. Now he’s just making noises.”
“Ah yes,” she sarcastically adds, “this is fraud but it’s okay to “go to the Supreme Court” and demand the rejection of remaining uncounted votes. So now we’re cool with calling him an authoritarian? It wasn’t the deployment of tanks and riot teams, the condoning of white supremacy, the denial of state authority, the delegitimisation of oppositional media? It was this… ?”
