The music festival was advertised to cater for the absolute ~elite~ on the island of Great Exuma in the Bahamas, but, as you know, it turned into a complete train wreck.

Festival goers were left without basic necessities like food and water, after spending THOUSANDS of dollars on tickets.

Billy McFarland, the 25-year-old founder behind the event, was arrested on Friday in New York, charged with wire fraud.

Joon H. Kim, the acting US attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement:

“McFarland allegedly presented fake documents to induce investors to put over a million dollars into his company and the fiasco called the Fyre Festival. Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, McFarland will now have to answer for his crimes.”

The charges mean he could spend up to 20 years in prison, but according to the New York Times, it could end up being less.
