There is no right or wrong ‘age’ to lose your virginity, but when it’s on your mind, it’s pretty natural to wonder if and when others are doing it for the first time too.
- As long as both you and your partner are ready, and of course use protection, then none of this even matters.
So how can one even determine when teenagers are losing their virginities? Well, there isn’t really a way of knowing for sure, however there are some surveys which have outlines a rough average.
Earlier this year, Zava (which is an online doctor service previously known as DrEd), surveyed 500 Europeans and 500 Americans to discover “sexual journeys”. The study found that the average age of virginity loss is 17.4.
The average age of sexual awakening, (which is “a sudden realisation of sexual feelings and urges”) is 15.2.
The most interesting find, however, is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which outlines that the number of sexually active teenagers is declining!
Who would have thought?!
But remember, just because these findings exist, it doesn’t mean these statistics are normal for you.
