But the wait is almost over and according to The Sun, Payno's solo stuff is gonna be friggen EPIC!
Liam has teamed up with legendary muso, Ed Sheeran for his debut single as a solo artist.
“Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since Ed first wrote for One Direction on their debut album," the insider claims.
“The collaboration actually came about very quickly earlier this year."
“Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind," the source added.
“Liam rushed back to the UK and the pair of them wrote the track together and then recorded it."
Good ol' Ed was responsible for several of One Direction's tunes including "Moments", "Little Things", "Over Again" and "18".
“With Ed’s expertise in creating a hit Liam knows they can’t go wrong. They have produced something special together.
“Having Ed on board is a clever move too, as it means he will reach music fans beyond just 1D obsessives.”
Just let that sink in for a moment: Liam's gorge face and dreamy vocals x Ed Sheeran's legendary songwriting abilities.
Sounds like the recipe for a banger, to us!
The long-awaited tune is set to be released on May 12.
Last week, Daddy was spotted shooting a music video with hip-hop group Migos who have confirmed that they're collaborating with the former 1D member, although it hasn't been confirmed if it's a song for his album or theirs.
"I just came from a video today," Migos member Quavo told NME. "My boy Liam from One Direction. We just shot that. Crazy vid. Crazy visuals."
And then, of course there's this...
