Gaga added, "Yes, people saw love. And guess what? That's what we wanted you to see! This is a love song, 'Shallow.' The movie, A Star Is Born, it's a love story. We worked so hard, we worked all week on that performance."
Gaga went on to discuss her connection with Cooper. "From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time. I mean, look, I've had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years, touring the world. When you're singing love songs, that's what you want people to feel."
"I'm an artist, and I guess we did a good job, and fooled ya!"
Gaga's appearance comes after news broke A Star Is Born would be returning. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cooper and Gaga’s A Star Is Born is returning to cinemas (for just one week!) with a new version of the film that includes 12 additional minutes of footage — AND A NEW SONG. Extended versions of soundtrack favourites 'Black Eyes', 'Alibi', and Ally’s parking lot version of 'Shallow' will factor into the re-release, as will performances of Ally’s 'Is That Alright?' and Jackson’s 'Too Far Gone'.
And then there’s 'Clover'. The new song is described as an intimate duet, and we're already screaming.
