Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, David explained how he nearly didn't give the New Zealander the role of a lifetime.
"I passed on him the first time he came in. He didn’t seem prepared."

"He came back in and his read blew me away," David said. "Sometimes people have bad days and you miss something."
