In the past, she has worn cornrows, dreadlocks and other hairstyles that she has no business wearing... and today, she adds afro to the list.
For a new Vogue photoshoot, Kendall poses alongside model Imaan Hammam which honours the 15th anniversary of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which was "created to make the American fashion community more caring, more creative, more conscionable."
Kendall's hair was teased significantly to replicate an afro, whereas Imaan's hair was straight.
One person commented on the pic, “This doesn’t sit well with me…whats the point of switching hair textures?”
Another wrote, “Why did you use a white celebrity for this shoot instead of a person of color who rocks this hair naturally?”
Vogue eventually responded to the heavy backlash, explaining that the hairstyles were meant to pay homage to the '60s and '70s, also apologising if they offended anyone.
"The image is meant to be an update of the romantic Edwardian/Gibson Girl hair which suits the period feel of the Brock Collection, and also the big hair of the '60s and the early '70s, that puffed-out, teased-out look of those eras. We apologise if it came across differently than intended, and we certainly did not mean to offend anyone by it."
Kendall has yet to respond.
