For those not in the know, The Kissing Booth follows Elle (Joey King), a teenage girl who’s never been kissed before as she finds herself manning the kissing booth at her school’s prom and ends up locking lips with her secret crush, Noah (Jacob Elordi).
Anyway, the deleted scene compilation consists of four scenes that didn’t make it into the movie: a conversation between the teen school council on the prom theme (no zombie prom?), a heartwarming scene between Elle and her dad, and another featuring Elle and Elle’s bestie Lee’s girlfriend at prom, but it’s the first scene with King and Elordi that’s making us totally cringe.
We're warning you: watch this at your own discretion. You might not see Jacob Elordi as such the smoking and talented hearthrob after this.
There’s so much to unpack here.
Jacob Elordi’s Shaggy from Scooby Doo-inspired '70s long hairdo with messy bangs that cover his face like a sheepdog. The out of place distracting soundtrack that sounds like they’re on an espionage mission. The awkward choppy back-to-back cuts of King and Elordi and unsatisfied facial expressions. Elordi saying “nah” (and then saying it again) and how he awkwardly sighs and walks off camera… and let’s not even begin to address the whole “nice arms…” comment by King and how she pokes Elordi’s chest and says, “Look, bub!” or "bud"—we're not quite sure but either way it's incredibly cringey.
In fact, the scene is so awkward that it’s all people can talk about in the comments.
The other scenes in the deleted scene compilation aren’t even nearly as cringeworthy. In fact, they almost feel like they should’ve stayed in the actual film. You can check them out below.
King and Elordi were dating when The Kissing Booth premiered on Netflix in 2018 but the two have since split. Perhaps this was the writing in the stars that predicted their downfall?
And, with Elordi dating Euphoria co-star Zendaya and busy showing off his real acting chops on the hit HBO show and the postponed filming of its second season, we’re unsure whether we’ll see him in The Kissing Booth 2 or just how big of a role he’ll play.
In the meantime, we’ll be rewatching everything we can to get this deleted scene out of our heads.
