International retailer H&M have come under fire for a racist clothing ad on their website and the controversy is picking up steam across social media.
The ad in question is for a hoodie with a slogan that reads: "coolest monkey in the jungle."
Sounds innocent enough, right? WRONG!
The retailers chose a young black model to wear the hoodie in the ad which is 3000% wrong as the term "monkey" has been used in a derogatory sense to demean the African community for decades.
Now, H&M is copping major backlash online...
A H&M spokesperson has since apologised for the ad with a public statement:
"We apologise to anyone this may have offended," they wrote.
Despite their apology, the angry tweets just keep pouring in.
