Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's marriage has been somewhat of a whirlwind, and the reconciliation along with the pairs young age has drawn a lot of criticism online. Along with the unwanted comments on her relationship, Baldwin reveals she also receives bullying about her job as a model.
Mrs. Bieber took to her Instagram story to explain why breaks from social media help quell her anxiety.
"Being off of Instagram is the best thing ever. Whenever I take breaks from it I feel so much better so much happy as a person.. the second I come back on I get immediate anxiety, I get sad and I get worked up. please don't get me wrong Instagram is an incredible tool and great way to stay in touch and interact with others. But the negativity screams so loud."
The model then went on to explain it has been the criticism she's faced regarding her career and her marriage to Bieber, that have hurt her the most.
"It's hard to focus on your well being and mental health when each time you open Instagram someone is tearing apart your job, or your relationship or essentially any of the things in your life that are positive. I just don't think we're believer we're called to live a life where we're so easily caught up in strangers opinions on something they have NOTHING to do with. We need to take a step back and realize we need to express more love and encouragement to one another instead of consistently tearing people down and judging."
Baldwin isn't the first celebrity to speak out about the internet trolls taking a toll on their mental health, and the message of placing mental wellbeing over social media has been largely appreciated by fans of the IMG model.
While Hailey is right in saying Instagram is a powerful tool, there does seem to be an awful lot of negativity online, and famous or not, Baldwin's words remind us that sometimes a break from social media is a good thing.
