It's about as funny as it is incredibly alarming. Even if someone is a cis-gender, heterosexual man there is no reason their knowledge about vaginas and menstruation should be this lacking. It ends up reinforcing stigmas and misunderstandings about menstruation, specifically that they literally think a pad works like a bandaid that sticks to the vagina.
In one video, a girl's confused boyfriend asks, "How do you pee with the pad on? You can't. You have to take it off first, obviously." Nope, he does not mean just sliding your underwear down with the pad in it. "Do you just pee in the pad and let it sit in your vagina?"
It doesn't get better. After she asks him what he thinks the pad is attached to, he confirms he thinks it's stuck to her body. "Wait a second. Oh, it’s not actually on your vagina?" he asks. "So does it just absorb the blood or not?" How do you watch this many commercials where weird blue liquid gets absorbed by a pad and not understand how this works?
If you want to laugh, cringe and be astounded at the wild ignorance of man, we've dropped the TikToks below. We can only imagine what'll happen when they discover menstrual cups and period underwear. Maybe it's time to lay-off the apps for a while and Google some sex-ed videos.
