The New York Post reports an unnamed source close to Gal revealed that she has threatened to walk from the hugely-profitable superhero franchise unless Brett is given the boot.
Six actresses, including Olivia Munn, accused Brett of sexual harassment or misconduct earlier this month.
Olivia described how he masturbated in front of her in 2004. Brett is a huge power producer in Hollywood and his production company helped produce Wonder Woman as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros, taking home a healthy chunk of the profits.
A Warner Bros insider told Page Six, “Brett made a lot of money from the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie. Now Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him.”
The Los Angeles Times reported that the Burbank-based studio will not renew this deal with Brett beyond 2018, but Wonder Woman is already gearing up for production.
The source added of Gal, “She’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet. She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops. They can’t have a movie rooted in women’s empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women.”
Hear, hear.
