“There is an idea to do a couple of bridge episodes that can be shot safely but aren't necessarily part of Season 2.”

*Spoilers for Euphoria season one*

Thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, production of the second season of HBO’s Euphoria, much like every other TV show and film, was postponed indefinitely. Instead of filming their gritty and dark teen drama about the brutally harsh ups and downs of adolescence, Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer and others are staying in their respective homes and waiting for this all to blow over

But, in a new interview, Spider-Man: Far From Home star Zendaya casually revealed we might be getting some new episodes “in the coming months.” Only, don’t expect it to be part of season 2.

Lemme explain…

In a new cover story interview with InStyle, Zendaya opened up about what she’s been up to during this period of self-isolation. Namely, listening to Chloe x Halle’s new album, Ungodly Hour, binge-watching a lot of TV—”I would do a season in a day”—and “animated movies and funny YouTube compilations of people falling down.”

And, while she produced a film in quarantine and was announced as a new member of The Oscars Academy, she just wants to go back to filming Euphoria

“I do miss Rue,” she told the outlet. “She’s like my little sister in a lot of ways. And going back to that character is a home base for me.”

It’s then she drops the fact we could be getting some new episodes of everyone’s favourite HBO show (RIP Game of Thrones, we barely knew ya).

“There is a beautiful second season that has been written, but in order to do it the way we want to do it, we need to wait until it’s safer,” she said. “There is an idea to do a couple of bridge episodes that can be shot safely but aren’t necessarily part of Season 2. So, hopefully, we will be able to do those in the coming months. I can’t wait.”

How these bridge episodes will play out, which characters we’ll see, how they’ll be filmed “safely” and where they’ll fit in the timeline of season one and season two is unclear. The final scene of Euphoria’s first season saw Rue, after Jules abandoned her at the train station, feeling helpless and alone and relapsing.

In a powerfully moving dance number to Labyrinth’s “All For Us,” Rue seemingly overdosed and fans think she’s now either dead or in a coma. So, assumedly, these bridge episodes could be about the other characters while she’s comatosed, especially Jules, Gia and Fez.
