Back in August, we caught wind of a rumour that Zendaya could be playing the iconic mermaid Ariel, in Disney’s live action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Naturally, fans were PUMPED, especially because this meant more representation in Hollywood. If they went through with Zendaya, they would have to cast women and men of colour for her father King Triton, and her sisters. That’s a huuuuuge win right there.
But, it’s all just a rumour, and now Zendaya herself has spoken about it.
“It’s just a rumor so we will see,” she said in the latest issue of People magazine. “I loved The Little Mermaid,” she added. “It is honestly one of my favorite movies of all time. I was obsessed with it when I was a little kid.”
Same babes, same.
