Wilmer Valderrama visited Demi Lovato in hospital following overdose

Demi Lovato “is awake and with her family” recover in hospital following a reported drug overdose.

While, it was initially claimed the 25-year-old has taken heroin sources close to Demi have told People, “some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

The Sober singer has received an outpouring of support from the Hollywood community, including her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

The 38-year-old is completely “shocked” a source revealed to People. “He knew she was going through a tough time but he wasn’t prepared for his,” the source says. “He saw her through so many ups and downs and was her rock through some of her darkest moments. To see her back in such a sad and vulnerable place is heartbreaking for him.” 

Adding that, “always cared deeply for her and they truly remained friends after they broke up.”

The 35-year-old actor was photographed visiting his ex-girlfriend, who he dated for six years, one day after her hospitalisation. Dressed in a denim chambray shirt and looking downcast, Wilmer spent around two hours with Lovato.  “He was sombre and quiet and you could tell he was in a very serious mood. He arrived and left by himself,” a source told E! News.

Valderrama and Demi were together for six years, announcing their split in June 2016 with a joint statement

“This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends,” the message continued. “We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years,” the statement reads in part.

Valderrama is the first celebrity guest to visit Lovato in the hospital. It was previously reported her mother and sister had arrived on Tuesday afternoon. 

Demi has struggled with with addiction, mental illness, and eating disorders for years, and has regularly come forward to discuss the stress of remaining sober, admitting that after six years of sobriety she relapsed in June 2018.
