When news hit that Sony and Disney couldn’t reach an agreement on Spider-Man, the probability that Tom Holland would be returning as Peter Parker seemed extremely unlikely.

Fans of the Marvel Universe and industry people alike were extremely vocal when it came to the future of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and it seems Sony has (thankfully) listened.

It’s official: Spider-Man is back in the MCU BABY!

Back in August, we reported that Sony Pictures and Disney’s Marvel Studios were fighting over money ahead of the next Spider-Man movie, with neither side able to come up with an agreement they liked.

Since then, it had been announced that Sony and Disney couldn’t make it work, meaning they would no longer be collaborating on Spider-Man.

This left many people (including Tom himself) under the impression that Peter Parker will probably be played by someone else.

Kevin Smith – an American filmmaker  – even came out with a statement saying that if Sony doesn’t move ahead with Tom Holland, fans and industry people alike will be gutted.

“I just watched Spider-Man: Far from Home this morning, it’s available on home video or whatever the f***. So, I got a little bit of taste [of Tony] there and stuff and once again, like I hate to be this guy, but rewatching that movie… that Spider-Man is perfect. I really hope these f***ers like figure their sh** out. Last I heard was Sony said, ‘Hey, we’ll offer you 30% of the box office’ to Disney and we’re still waiting to hear back.”

Thankfully for everyone involved, Sony and Marvel just announced a third Spider-Man film is on the way, after the inital dispute had removed our Spidey Man from the MCU for any future films.

Naturally Zendaya and Tom Holland were both STOKED, and hilariosuly celebrated on social media.

Our girl Zendaya kept it cute with a little gif of a dancing Spider-Man.

While Tom was far less subtle, posting a clip from The Wolf of Wall Street where Leo’s character yells “not f*cking leaving.”

We like to think we’re the crowd in this vid.

The only down side of the deal is that a new Spider-Man film won’t be released until July, 26, 2021.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement.

“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
