The Voice US contestant Janice Freeman has tragically passed away from an apparent blood clot that traveled to her heart, at age 33 on Sunday, March 3.

TMZ reports that the singer was in her Pasadena home in California with her husband Dion, when she started to complain that she couldn’t breathe.

The outlet explains how Dion called 911 and performed CPR on his wife until paramedics arrived on the scene. Freeman was pronounced dead at the local hospital at around 5:30pm.

Since the news broke, The Voice judge Miley Cyrus took to her Instagram story to show her condolences.

“Thank you @janicefreeman.. for everything,” wrote Cyrus on a photo of a rainbow. “This represents you perfectly.”

Freeman  who competed on Cyrus’ team during season 13 of the reality singing show, has previously battled lupus, cervical cancer and meningitis.

In January 2018, the star opened up about how Cyrus changed her life, revealing that she helped her and her family outside of the show.

“Thank you ALL but she found us placement until we found permanent housing, gave me the deposit, covered me for 6 months so I can get on my feet!” Freeman tweeted at the time. “@MileyCyrus you are one of my closest friends and what you did for me and my family I’m prayed GOD gives you the desire of your heart.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Freedman’s family.
