The Kissing Booth 3 may have already been filmed, but fans are facing a bit of a wait until the third film of one of Netflix’s most popular franchises comes out. For those who missed it, The Kissing Booth 2 dropped last month. After devouring the next chapter of Elle and Noah’s love story, fans are now left with heightened crushes and lots of questions.
While there are some crucial decisions that we know Elle will have to navigate in The Kissing Booth 3, much of the film is a mystery. Elle’s big decision between colleges is one aspect we know they’re going to have to cover, of course. We’ve rounded up everything else that the film’s makers and stars have said about the plot details.
The Kissing Booth 3 release date: when can we expect the third film?
Sadly, we have no concrete info on this yet. The first Kissing Booth movie was released on May 11, 2018 and the sequel on July 24, 2020, so the wait time between them is technically getting shorter. We do know it’s coming sometime next year.
The Kissing Booth 3 cast: who is coming back for round three?
Good news, all your fav members of The Kissing Booth cast are coming back.
FYI, that’s Joey King as Elle Evans, Jacob Elordi as Noah Flynn, Joel Courtney as Lee Flynn, Meganne Young as Rachel, Taylor Zakhar Perez as Marco Valentin Peña, Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Chloe Winthrop, as well as Molly Ringwald reprising her role as Noah and Lee’s mother Sara.
The Kissing Booth 3 plot: what should we expect from the third movie?
Kissing Booth director Vince Marcello, recently told Variety that like The Kissing Booth 2, the third film will explore beyond just the romantic storylines.
“[The Kissing Booth 3] is the culmination of this coming of age story—not just for Elle, but for Noah and Lee, as well,” the director told Variety. “Although their paths are entwined, each has their own journey with a set of challenges that they need to overcome before closing the chapter of their lives that was adolescence and beginning their new journey into adulthood.”
It’s a sentiment that actor Joel Courtney also shared when speaking to Girlfriend earlier this year. When asked what predictions he had for the third film, Courtney explained that “I think it’s one of those things where these people just need to make their own decisions. I think they need to find peace with that. It’s almost like a codependent relationship between Elle and Lee. I think it would have to be one of those things where they make their own decisions, and they live with it. They’re out of high school, they’re making big decisions and there would have to be a lot of peace with it.”
Meanwhile, Girlfriend fav Taylor Zahkar Perez, who plays Marco shared his own ideas for what could happen in a third film. “If there was a third film, I would think that he’s doing his band. She’s doing her thing,” Perez explained to Teen Vogue. “Maybe outside the walls of the high school, things are a little less dramatic… maybe over the summer they reconnect and tell each other how they feel.”
Joey King has also spoken about The Kissing Booth 2‘s cliffhanger ending, sharing, “My biggest advice to Elle is don’t throw your life away that you have planned for somebody that might not be the best partner to you! But also, don’t make your decision based on what your friend just wants you to do. You have to make a decision that makes you happy. So weigh your options. Think about it hard. I think Elle’s biggest problem that she has is being honest with the two people who mean the most to her and she tries to keep everybody happy and hide things.”
Hmmmm, lots of things to consider here. But given the just-released film was over two hours long, we can imagine a version of The Kissing Booth 3 that could address all of the above!
