It’s finally here! No, not the defunding of police, though that’d be nice too. Netflix has just dropped the official trailer for The Kissing Booth 2. Not to alarm anyone, but it looks glorious young-love relationship drama is already on the cards for Elle and Noah.
In case you somehow missed it, The Kissing Booth, starring Joey King as Elle Evans and Jacob Elordi as her unlikely boyfriend Noah, was kinda a Netflix phenomenon. After the film’s massive success in 2018, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos claimed that The Kissing Booth was “one of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe in the world.” We’ve had to make do with hilarious, cringy deleted scenes but now the official trailer is here.
The second film picks up where we left Elle and Noah: her beginning her senior year and him beginning college at Harvard. Cue the long-distance relationship woes. “I miss you, jerk,” says Elle into her webcam with a smile. “I miss you more,” replies Noah. Ugh, our hearts.
In between playing detective with the stunning girl who starts appearing in Noah’s Instagram snaps from college, Elle is also dealing with an extremely hot new guy called Marco, played by Taylor Zakhar Perez. You know the drill, she repeats what the OMGs say about him being a snack, Marco overhears her and shenanigans ensue.
They seem to get pretty close in the trailer, despite the rocky start. “Do you think you and Noah were meant to be together?” Marco asks Elle at one point. “I always thought we were,” she answers. Later Marco says, quite seriously, “If I found someone smart, funny, and liked the same stuff I like, I’d hold onto them.” What does this meaaaan.
As well as the relationship wobbles, Elle’s future college choice is straining her friendship with Lee. They always planned to go to college at Berkeley together but things start to go awry as she admits she’s applying to colleges that are closer to Noah. Lotta boys to date, lotta choices to make. 🤔
The Kissing Booth 2 will stream on Netflix on July 24th. Watch the new trailer below:
