Before there was K.C Undercover or Alex Russo, or even Hannah Montanna, there was one iconic Disney TV character to rule them all.
Her name was Lizzie McGuire and she was literally our hero.
If you need a refresher, Hilary Duff and her cartoon alter ego played Lizzie, a 13-year-old middle school student riding the rollercoaster of life with besties Miranda and Gordo.
There were crushes. There was chaos. There were hilarious crimped hairstyles that were super cool at the time. And basically, every teen girl in the world was devo when the series came to an end in 2004.
Thankfully, our lives have regained meaning once again, because Hilary announced back in August that the show would be making a comeback.
Now, we have our first look at the modern reboot.

Celebrity hairstylist Nikki Lee has posted our first glimpse at grown-up Lizzie and unsurprisingly, she’s a lot more chic.
“Never in a million years did I think I would be doing Lizzie’s color! Well dreams do come true! Thank you [Hilary Duff] for trusting me to create the perfect blonde for the next chapter of Lizzie McGuire!” Nikki gushed in her caption.
The hairstylist even shared her top tips for achieving Lizzie’s beachy blonde look at home.
While we’re a little disappointed to see a distinct lack of butterfly clips in Lizzie’s hair look, we’re super keen for this reboot nonetheless.
What we know about the show so far is that the series picks up with Lizzie at age 30, working as an apprentice to an interior designer in New York City.
She has a boyfriend in the series (who sadly, isn’t Gordo) who is a restauranteur at a flashy joint in SoHo.
“The good news is, just like me and everybody who loved Lizzie and has grown up with her, Lizzie’s also grown up,” Hilary said on stage during the announcement about the reboot. “She’s older, she’s wiser, she has a much bigger shoe budget, which is super exciting. She has her dream job. She has kind of the perfect life right now.”
However, her world is turned upside when she gets an opportunity to move to Los Angeles.
While we don’t have an exact premiere date yet, we do know that it’s set to stream on Disney+. Stay tuned for more deets!
