Taylor Swift is officially releasing a documentary on Netflix titled “Miss Americana” and we can’t BREATHE. AT ALL. Especially now that the official trailer has dropped…

The doco is set to be released on January 31st, in select theatres AND Netflix. Thank god for that.
“I feel really really good about not being muzzled anymore, and it was my own doing,” Taylor says in the trailer.
“Throughout my whole career label executives would just say: ‘A nice girl doesn’t force their opinions on people. A nice girl smiles and says and waves and says thank you.’ I became the person everyone wanted me to be.”
“Taylor Swift embraces her role as a songwriter and performer — and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice,” reads the official synopsis from their Netflix page.
The documentary comes shortly after Taylor and Scooter Braun came head to head in the industry, as the music manager attained her pre-Lover music rights under Big Machine Records. He allegedly refused for her older songs to be used throughout the film.
“Additionally — and this isn’t the way I had planned on telling you this news — Netflix has created a documentary about my life for the past few years,” Taylor tweeted in November after she received artist of the decade award at the 2019 American Music Awards. “Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film.”
Since then, Variety reported that her songs “have been cleared” for the film “and the clearances were granted within a timely manner.”
The documentary will also delve into the battles Taylor’s family face with the sickness of her mother, Andrea.
Yesterday, Taylor revealed in an extremely candid interview that her mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, all whilst undergoing chemo for the second time.
“Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom,” Taylor told the publication. “But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness.”
Taylor’s mother was already undergoing treatment for cancer (which arrived for the second time) while receiving this horrifying new diagnosis.
“She was going through chemo, and that’s a hard enough thing for a person to go through,” Taylor revealed.
“While she was going through treatment, they found a brain tumor,” she continued. “And the symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before. So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family.”
