This ad for Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ has been banned for being too scary

Not a headline we thought we'd ever see?

“Scary” isn’t the first word to come to mind when thinking of Camila Cabello, but this new ad might change our minds.

Spotify have released an ad for her hit song “Havana” and it has now been BANNED because it is so horrific.

In the clip, three friends are breakfast whilst listening to their “wake up” playlist, which includes Camila’s song. When another roommate asks them to “turn it up,” things take a dark turn. Every time “Havana” plays, a creepy, eyeless doll rises to haunt the group of friends.

“I know it’s a great song with its catchy melody and sing-along lyrics but we cannot play that song,” one of the friends says.

But, despite the horrific doll, they just CAN’T stop listening to the song.

It ends with the words, “killer songs you can’t resist”, which is kind of clever, but it has been from the U.K. as the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) have labeled it “distressing,” as Billboard reports.

A Spotify spokesperson has come out and spoken about the controversy in a statement, per Billboard: “We acknowledge the ruling from the ASA and regret any distress the ad may have caused the complainant. It was created as a tongue-in-cheek horror parody — intended to be a humorous ad that demonstrated just how catchy some tracks can be. We take our responsibilities as a marketer very seriously and continue to be mindful of the ASA’s guidance on the effective and appropriate targeting of advertising campaigns.”
