It was only a few weeks ago that we all fell in love with Shadow And Bone, namely a certain dark-haired and dark-eyed Darkling, and now, Netflix has finally confirmed what we’ve all been wanting to hear – the show is officially returning for a second season!
WATCH BELOW: Shadow and Bone cast announce the renewal of season two
The new fantasy series is based off Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels, and follows the stories and characters of both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows.
The first season, which was only eight episodes long, gave us plenty of colourful characters, and took us on a journey filled with plenty of twists and turns.
Not to mention, the season finale left us on a brutal cliffhanger, so while we eagerly wait to see what happens next, we’ve rounded up all the cast members who are likely to appear on our screens once more.
Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov
In season one, we met Alina Starkov, an orphan and soldier, who finds out she has the power to tear down the the Shadow Fold and finally set Ravka free.
As for season two, well we can expect see Alina continue fighting against The Fold, as well as a certain Darkling, who has gone absolutely rogue.
Ben Barnes as General Kirigan
The mysterious General Kirigan, or the Darkling to which we later find out, is also known as a Shadow Summoner, which means he can conjure and control darkness.
And spoiler alert: While Alina thought she was done with him in season one, we found out at the very end that he is very much alive and looks ready to stir up some trouble.
Archie Renaux as Malyen “Mal” Oretsev
Mal is Alina’s best friend, where they grew up together at the orphanage. In season two, we can expect Mal to stick by Alina’s side and she deals with being hunted down.
Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker
A thief and leader of a gang called the Crows, Kaz is rarely seen outside of his trio – made up of Jesper and Inej.
These three promise to bring us more drama and mischief, and we honestly can’t wait to see what trouble they get in to.
Kit Young as Jesper Fahey
If you can count on someone to bring some much needed light-hearted energy to the series, it’s Jesper.
He’s wicked talented with a pistol and has an adorably strange love for a goat named Milo – which we also hope to see in season two.
Amita Suman as Inej Ghafa
Inej is Kaz’s right-hand woman and is insanely good at being an assassin – making her someone you don’t want as an enemy.
In season one we saw her cross a line *ahem killing someone* which is something she swore she’d never do. So we’re guessing there will be some more character development happening in the next season.
Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik
Being a heartrender, Nina has a target on her back, as she has the power to slow or speed up anyone’s heartbeat.
Judging by the last few scenes, her powers will certainly come in handy when needing to help the others.
Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar
We saw Matthias turn from enemy to friend to something a little more than friends with Nina, but when we last saw this soldier he was in a rather tricky situation. So, here’s hoping he manages to come out on the side okay, and preferably not behind bars.
Sujaya Dasgupta as Zoya Nazyalensky
She may have started off hating Alina’s guts (and she may still hate her just a little bit) but Zoya eventually came around and worked with Alina to take down Kirigan.
And we may just get to see a little more of her in season two.
