The end of Riverdale season three heavily suggested that Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) was either dead or in some huge danger.

In fact, there have been a bunch of fan theories about his fate, some very compelling.

Now, the trailer has FINALLY dropped, giving us an insight into WTF happens to Jughead and the rest of the crew…

Has Jughead Jones been buried alive in Riverdale? Their new season four trailer seems to suggest so!!! Watch the scary trailer below:

“Isn’t it crazy? In just 9 months, life as we know it will be over,” Veronica (Camila Mendes) says while sitting on Archie’s (KJ Apa) lap.

They’re referring to graduating high-school, but they have way bigger issues. Jughead is missing, and his dad is running the search party.

What we know from the end of last season is that Betty (Lili Reinhart), Archie and Veronica are in on something involving Jughead.

But the most important part of the trailer is definitely Archie Andrews naked and wet.

Later in the trailer, we SEE JUGHEAD! In fact, we see him a few times in the clip but it’s hard to tell whether it’s present tense or flashbacks. Jughead has always played the narrator of the show, so we can’t tell.

But he does pop up a few times…

The end of the clip shows SOMEONE buried alive in a coffin, yelling for help. Is it Jughead? Is it someone else the trio may have murdered/covered up for?

Who the hell knows anymore.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa recently spoke with E! about what we can expect.

“I think the biggest thing is that the Archie characters have always been defined by being high school students, and this year is potentially their last year as high school students, and we’re really going to play that and we’re going to play with school in a way we haven’t really done since season one, and we haven’t really ever done, so we’re excited about that,” he shared.

There is a lot going on, but all will be revealed when the show returns on Netflix October 11
