Come ON guys!

Riverdale season four is as high-key dramatic as we all expected, however, one fairly obvious plothole has opened up this season, and it has everything to do with Reggie’s dad.

On last week’s episode of Netflix’s hit show, Reggie got yelled at by his dad during football practice, and finally feeling done with his father’s abuse, he took a baseball bat to his dad’s car.

After Reggie lost it he told Archie (KJ Apa) that the whole thing ended up helping them have a constructive conversation as father and son.

Here’s where it gets a little suss: while we have known for a while that Reggie’s dad can be a d*ck, both Archie and Veronica (Camila Mendes) acted very surprised at the revelation.

The thing is – and as one Reddit user pointed out – Riverdale has already addressed the issue of Reggie’s dad in the past.

Back in the day when Gryphons and Gargoyles was a thing (good times for the whole Riverdale fam) Reggie actually told all his mates that his dad had given him a black eye after the game.

So what’s with all the shock?

Here is what the Reddit user had to say, and honestly, this mid-level shade speaks to our soul:

“Yeah, I was so confused when Veronica was telling Archie that she thinks Reggie is being abused by his dad, like they weren’t even hinting at it in the past. They were straight-out basically saying it. It’s not like Reggie would just come to school with a black eye w/out any context, but he even said something like, ‘My dad gave me this shiner when I tried asking him about G&G.’ And if I’m remembering correctly, I think even Betty said it when she was confronting all of the parents about G&G in Veronica’s speakeasy.””

While this could just be a case of the writers losing track – and considering how complicated the storylines are we wouldn’t be surprised – it could also just speak more to Archie and Veronica being a little self-absorbed.
