Luke Perry has tragically passed away, but his Riverdale family will not be forgetting him. And his fans won’t either.
The CW had prepared to dedicate their latest episode of the show to the star, and yes, it’s just as sad as we all expected.
At the end of the new episode, an on-screen message honouring the late actor appears…
“IN MEMORIAM,” it reads “LUKE PERRY 1966 – 2019”.
Showrunner and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted a BTS photo of Luke with a bunch of Riverdale cast and crew members, explaining his dedication plans.
“Going through pictures on my way to set. From the early days. With Luke in the middle. Our heart, always. Tonight’s episode of [Riverdale] finds Fred doing what he does best—helping Archie. It is dedicated to Luke, as all episodes will be for the rest of our run,” he wrote.
In addition to the devastating in memoriam card, there was a beautiful scene starring Perry within the episode.
SPOILERS AHEAD…
When Archie was betrayed and attacked at home, Fred did everything he could to race to his son to tend to his wounds, the way only Fred Andrews would – lovingly.
Perry has forever played the moral compass of the show and was basically the only parent with any sense.
To see him go is heartbreaking.
Perry passed away on Monday following a stroke.
Rest in peace Luke Perry.
