It may only be August, but the internet’s latest meme perfectly captures 2020 in a nutshell

Tag yourself, I’m in a constant state of July to September.

It’s safe to say that this year is going to be one remembered in the history books. Whether it’s the bushfires that swept our nation, the international protests against systemic racism towards Black people, the President of the United States Donald Trump’s political disasters and attempts to ban TikTok, or the global pandemic that’s infected nearly 20 million people worldwide, it’s just… all quite a lot to handle.

So, fittingly, the internet and our 2020-induced anxiety has created a new meme. Celebrities are sharing photos of themselves as the months of the year, reassuring us all that no, you’re not alone, March to now really did just suck.

According to the US Today, the new meme was popularised by actress Reese Witherspoon who shared a photo collage of herself in some of her iconic roles—Legally Blonde’s Elle Woods to Little Fires Elsewhere’s Elena Richardson—and the first nine months of the year. In the January photo, things are fine and swell, then in February she looks concerned, then in March and beyond she seemingly hears the news about the Covid-19 pandemic and, like the rest of us, goes mad from self-isolation in the later months.

And she’s not alone. Other celebrities like The Hunger Games’s Elizabeth Banks, Never Have I Ever creator Mindy Kalling and Billy Ray Cyrus all did their own take on it, also featuring a repetitive state of 👁👄👁 from July onwards.

Then there’s all the TV shows, companies and bands that feel the same, from RuPaul’s Drag Race to Twilight
