If you have been looking to fill that Gossip Girl sized hole in your life, then Dynasty is the show for you.
Not only is it made by the same creators, but it has that same beauty, luxury and drama that makes a show so damn good.
Lucky for us, we got to catch up with Aussie actress Nathalie Kelley who plays Cristal Flores/Carrington in the show, while she was back home to get married!!!
You may recognise her from The Vampire Diaries, where she played Sybil.
While sitting down with us, Nathalie spilled the beans on how she got the role (and how she’s secretly jealous that she can’t play villain Fallon), the importance of being a role model to young girls, and of course… what to expect from Fallon’s fake new husband.
How did you land the role of Cristal?
“I previously worked with the network CW when I played Sybil, a villain on ‘Vampire Diaries’ last season.
I clearly nailed playing a very evil character. And for some reason that made them think I’d make a great Cristal Carrington!”
Did you think your character would be the villain?
“When I was first given the role… I was a little disappointed not to be the villain. Playing Sybil was so fun, and I think Cristal in the beginning… she was never the villain. She was misunderstood. Her intentions weren’t as apparent as Fallon’s.
Fallon says a lot meaner things than Cristal, yet we forgive her and we love her because we see through to who she is.”
Do you think your character is a good role model to young women?
“One of the best things about being Cristal is the amazing positive response I’ve gotten from female audience members… How empowering they find her. Young women saying she inspires them in a lot of ways. It means so much to me because it’s how I strive to live my life.”
Can you tell us anything about Fallon’s new husband? He’s shady AF.
“When you watch him, you’re like ‘what are you trying to do? What do you want from this situation?’ But you also can’t help but love him because he is so lovely, charismatic and such a gem. I have a feeling the audience will be satisfied when they find out answers around him.”
THANK GOD, because he’s hot and we want him to stay.
What is your favourite moment between you and Fallon?
“When I take Blake’s lace at the wedding and walk Fallon down the aisle. It’s a big moment because they have been feuding this whole time. So for her to step up in the role of parent/caretaker and mother to Fallon is a really sweet moment and I know it really touched a lot of women. There’s a moment when I tell her, ‘for what it’s worth, you look beautiful’, and she takes it as a compliment, but in true Fallon style she has to respond with, ‘Ugh, let’s do this before I lose my buzz.’”
And of course, are there any spoilers for season 2 you can give us?
“I have to say that I have no idea what happens in season 2. We just found out that we’ve got it, so I don’t have any spoilers for you! I wish I knew what we were exploring with Cristal as well!”
