Sad news for Modern Family fans!!!
The critically acclaimed series is officially coming to an end, after its renewal for an eleventh season.
ABC’s Entertainment President, Karey Burke announced the sad news at the 2019 Television Critics Association winter press tour.
“So proud to announce that Modern Family is returning for its 11th and final season,” Burke said. “In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss.”
While we have no details on the upcoming final season, Deadline has reported that it may consist of 18 to 22 episodes.
They also reported that the show’s adult stars, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrel, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara were 100% keen for the final season, and were all aware of it coming to an end.
Since the news came out, some cast members have taken to social media.
While it’s really sad news, Karey Burke has admitted that she’d be happy to launch a spin-off from the final season. However, no “concrete plans” have yet to be made.
