There are times when fan girls are legit more capable of uncovering the deepest, darkest ~secrets~ of the world than actual government agencies.
Now is one of those times as a friggen’ GENIUS has found evidence that Disney’s Moana and DC’s Diana (Wonder Woman) are actually the same person.
No but srsly, hear ’em out!
The theory connects the two #iconic characters through the following clues:
#1: Both Diana (Wonder Woman) and Moana are island gals
Both heroines are from remote tropical islands called Themyscira and Motunui and they desperately wish to escape their islands and see what else is in the world, much to the dismay of their parents. Which leads us to our next clue!
#2: They are the daughters of ~royal~ parents
They’re both QWEENS in training. Diana is the daughter of the king of the Greek gods and the queen of the island while Moana is the daughter of the king and queen of the island. So basically both gals ~rule~ their respective islands. Coincidence? We think not!
#3 Their epic journeys begin with the death of a relative
Um, this just keeps getting freakier!
As you’ll remember, in both flicks the girls’ parents are hiding them from their *true* destiny but a relative of theirs tells them the truth and teaches them to use their gifts (in Wonder Woman it’s her aunt and in Moana it’s her grandmother).
Then, after teaching the girls everything they know, both relatives face an untimely death which sends both heroines off on their respective journeys.

#4 Their journeys are strangely similar
The heroines leave their island homes by boat, accompanied by male sidekicks: Steve (Wonder Woman) and Maui (Moana).
During their journeys, the girls teach their male comrades positive values and warm the cold hearts of the men.
They are also joined by hilar friends, in Diana’s case the three men and in Moana’s case it’s the friendly pig and rooster who offer comedic relief throughout the flick.
Both movies climax with the gals finding the courage and learning the necessary lesson to defeat the villain with their sidekicks willing to sacrifice themselves to save their gal pal.
By the end, both Diana and Moana have won the battle after following the eerily similar path.
