As the number of girls vying for Matt Agnew’s heart slowly dwindles, the hunky astrophysicist has some pretty tough choices to make ahead of the finale.
While we’re still confused who he has the strongest connection with (Abbie? Chelsie? Elly? Kristen? Helena? UGH WHO KNOWS), thankfully the brainiac says he made the right decision, revealing he’s still dating the Bachelorette he gifted the rose to. Oh, by the way, he plans to propose to her in the near future. I repeat, PROPOSE.
When asked on Nova 96.9’s On Air With Smallzy Show whether he’s ready to take the next step in his relationship, Matt responded by saying, “it’s heating up”. Two seconds later, he revealed the last text message the winner of competition sent him— “Ready when you are :P.”
Could the two be connected? Does she know he’s about the pop the question? Are we clutching at straws here? I DON’T KNOW, but I’m convinced something big is about to happen.
You head it here first, just saying!

Ok, now that I’ve planted that tiny seed in your head, let’s try and figure out which lovely lady wins Matt’s heart at the end of the competition. First things first, we have to rule out Elly Miles. Although the frontrunner is one of the most eligible Bachelorettes we’ve seen to date, WHO exclusively revealed yesterday that she’s booted from the competition ahead of hometown visits this week. In what will no doubt be an emotionally charged episode, Matt will wave goodbye to the affable nurse on Wednesday evening… so get the tissues ready.
As for the resident villain, Abbie Chatfield, we have a feeling she won’t make it to this season’s finale, with an insider recently claiming the controversial contestant has since tried to crack on to another reality TV star… who happens to be having a fling with her former Bachie co-star, Nichole Wood.
“Abbie has been talking to multiple guys on Instagram including Married at First Sight’s Billy Vincent and last year’s runner up from Ali Oetjen’s season of the Bachelorette, Todd King,” an insider dished to New Idea.
While the nature of her chat with Billy remains unknown, the source claimed she isn’t too fussed that her former Bachelor co-star Nichole Wood has also been linked to the MAFS star, and was recently caught locking lips with him during an intimate dinner date.
We thought Helena Sauzier was in with a shot however, it appears she pulls a Brooke Blurton on us and walk out of The Bachelor! Despite professing her love for Matt after their disastrous single date last week, an on-set spy claims Helena tried to quit the show during hometown visits after realising the astrophysicist “wasn’t going to pick her in the end”.
“She felt, judging by the way Matt was treating her, he wasn’t going to pick her in the end – he kept getting simple things about her wrong and she ended up having a meltdown at home visits,” a source told New Idea.
“She told producers she was staying in Perth because she didn’t see any point in coming back to Sydney to finish filming and she gave Matt a letter explaining her decision. But in the end producers and Matt begged her to stay.”
While this news may come as a shock to some, in new exclusive snaps obtained by who.com.au from the Bachelorette’s hometown visits, Helena and Matt aren’t happy about being in each other’s company. In the tense photos, the couple is seen having an argument before a distraught Helena sobs in Matt’s arms.
Although Matt has long been vocal about his feelings for Chelsie McLeod, the fan favourite— who’s slated to win this season of The Bachelor —is struggling to keep her eye on the prize as she fears Matt’s heart lies with another contestant. That’s why we’re low key uncertain she’ll make it to the final rose ceremony.
“She’s becoming really insecure as she’s seeing the relationships Matt has with the other women,” a source spilled to New Idea. “She really thought that what they had was special, so seeing him also be intimate with the other women is really hurtful and it’s getting harder and harder for her as the show goes on.”
According to the insider, the blonde beauty— who we can exclusively reveal has made it to the top four— is finding the astrophysicists willingness to kiss the other women “hard to stomach” and, as a result, is starting to question whether his feelings for her are genuine.
It appears as though Chelsie’s trust issues stem from being cheated on in a past relationship. And despite bravely opening up to Matt about her previous heartbreak during their second single date, the insider claims the situation is far worse than she’s led him to believe.
“She’s actually been cheated on numerous times and she really opened up to Matt on the show and trusted what he was telling her so it would be really bad on his part if he wasn’t being genuine,” the insider dished.
Alright, let’s talk about Emma Roche. Honestly, she’s in with a very hot chance.
No one’s said a bad word about her, Matt seems to really like her, he knows where she stands with wanting to settle down and he even said that she has a knack for being open and honest. And, as a result, Matt says that only makes him like her more.
She’s one to watch, people. Trust me.
