You’re lying to yourself if you didn’t throw up in your mouth a little when Mishel Karen made Steve Burley sniff some nasty food while blindfolded.

Before the scene unfolded during last night’s episode, the stunning Married At First Sight star told the cameras that forcing her hubby to inhale and touch tuna— which, contrary to popular belief, is hands down the nastiest smelling food of all time— will help them to reconnect and build a stronger bond.
Obviously, it didn’t quite go to plan, with Steve literally pushing his TV wife off him while saying, “Oh, it’s disgusting. Smells like raw fish or something! Is it fish? Is it fish? Oh, it’s gross! Get away!”
Anyway, it gets so much worse. After the strange exercise went belly up, the experts and the show’s narrator literally called the multi-sensory experience “romantic”, despite the fact the 51-year-old groom was not having a bar of it.
Ha, I’m certain Mishel evoked the exact opposite.
Expectedly, viewers were just as confused as we were about the god awful experience, with many admitting they were repulsed and disgusted by what they saw.
“Nothing says intimacy quite like shoving a can of tuna under your partner’s nose,” one person Tweeted as the scene played out on our screens. “Someone please enlighten me as to how sniffing tuna is intimate?”
Another chimed in: “Why is Mishel introducing him to the smell of tuna?”
“Geez, a tuna can shoved in the face. That will sure fire up the senses and reflexes,” someone else said, adding: “If shoving a can of tuna under someone’s nose is Mishel’s idea of sexy, I’m not surprised she’s single.”
Ouch, that one’s gotta sting.
That was perhaps the most lighthearted scene we saw from the couple last night, with Steve chucking a wobbly when Mishel suggested they go out and do something fun in the spirit of intimacy week.
“I’m not ready to lay down and die. I want to experience life and live,” Mishel told her man over a cup of tea.
His mood became toddler-like, as if he was caught in the pouring rain without an umbrella.
“I best go and buy a Harley Davidson and a speed boat, and a jetski and you know, best buy myself a little aeroplane so we can jump out of it so we can skydive everywhere.”
Bravely, Mishel asked Steve what it is he’d like to do with their spare time.
“Where are your hobbies? Like, what are your hobbies then? What would you do?”
That’s when he made a reference to his beloved ex-girlfriend and 2018 MasterChef winner, Diana Chan. “I wanna go for a nice meal. I wanna walk in and say, ‘yeah, I’ve got a reservation for me and my wife.’ That’s what I’d like to do. I like to order really nice food and a nice glass of wine.”
