We can’t imagine anybody else playing the roles of our Riverdale favourites, but it all could have turned out completely different.
We already know that Madelaine Petsch was nearly cast as Betty Cooper (weird), but ended up landing Cheryl Blossom instead… but didja know that her boyfriend Travis Mills was up for the role as Jughead Jones?!
So strange!
Madelaine told Cosmopolitan that Travis messaged her on Facebook after the show was cast to congratulate her on landing Cheryl, even though he didn’t land a role.
She and Travis had some mutual friends, and started to chat online more frequently.
“We kept in touch very rarely, not even that much, from January to February,” she explained, saying that when she returned from shooting season one, they decided to hang out. It led to them spending almost everyday together, and now, they’re totes in love.
As for Cheryl’s on-screen romance, she revealed, “She was trying to find herself last season, and now the undercurrent for her is absolutely needing love.
“She gets an unexpected love interest.”
When asked if she would rather be part of a #Varchie or #Bughead love triangle, she basically said neither… but would defs choose Varchie if she had to.
“Bughead has just got so many issues,” she said. “Like, I can’t. That’s not even a love triangle, it’s just a headache. As of the end of season one, Varchie is just simple. Happy. They’ve got a couple little problems but they’re good.”
Season 2 of Riverdale returns to Netflix October 11!
