WATCH: The ‘Love, Victor’ trailer is here and we’re already crying

“Sixteen will finally be the year I find out what I want. Love, Victor.”

Looking for a new teen rom-com to scratch your awkward high school crushes and coming-of-age itch? Well, good news! The first full trailer for Love, Victor, the super cute TV show spin-off to 2018’s critically acclaimed teen rom-com Love, Simon, is here.

Featuring awkward moments with your high school crush, an emotionally raw coming out experience and a blossoming queer romance (and ofc, kissing!), it looks like a total rollercoaster of emotions, and we’re so here for it.

From the writers of Love, Simon—the film adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda—comes Love, Victor.

Set a couple of years after Simon graduates from high school, Love, Victor follows Victor (Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School, who moves to the suburbs of Atlanta with his family from Texas.

On his own journey of self-discovery, Victor faces challenges at home, learns to adjust to a new city and explore his own sexual orientation. When it all gets a bit too much, he reaches out to Simon via email (a cute little throwback to Simon and Blue’s secret email romance) to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school and coming out as a gay teen.

Some of those ups and downs include coming out to his family (who are less as accepting as Simon’s), navigating new friendships and a new school, and experiencing his first crush—a one smoking hot guitar-playing barista and classmate called Benji (George Sear).

“So, is there a girl back home?” asks Lake (Bebe Wood), one of Victor’s new friends, just as Victor looks up and sees the man of his dreams slowly turn down the hallway in that classic and dreamy slow motion ‘this is your love interest’ kinda way.

“Nope. No girl back in Texas.”

The trailer also hints at a couple of amazing cameos, too. Specifically, RuPaul’s Drag Race and UNHhhh star Katya Petrovna Zamolodchikova (but Victor’s dad just calls her… “Katyaaa”), 13 Reasons Why’s Tommy Dorfman and Love, Simon star and Aussie singer, dancer and model Keiynan Lonsdale. And, according to Deadline, Nick Robinson, who plays Simon in the titular film, will narrate the show. Talk about perfect.

So, when does Love, Victor release and where can I watch it in Australia?

Well, uh, here’s the thing. All ten episodes of Love, Victor premiere on Hulu on the 19th June and the streaming service is already in talks of a second season. But, unfortunately, Hulu isn’t available in Australia.

We’ve reached out to some Aussie-made streaming services to see if they have plans to pick it up.
