Fashion Nova is the fave brand of celebs like Kylie Jenner and Cardi B but fans are starting to rethink their swimsuit purchases from the clothing company after discovering that the swimwear comes with a cancer warning!
A Twitter user uploaded a pic of the tag on her Fashion Nova swimsuit that reads “This product can expose you to Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate, lead and cadmium, which are known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, and other reproductive harm.”
Yikes!
Fashion Nova fans obviously FREAKED out about the cancer warning.
According to Seventeen, you can also find a similar warning on Fashion Nova’s website.
“We make this warning as a result of Proposition 65, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, which requires us to inform citizens in California about exposures to certain chemicals. WARNING: Products sold on this site may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm,” it reads.
The clothing company is legally required to provide these warnings about potentially dangerous chemicals under Californian law, which is where the Fashion Nova office is. Other clothing brands based in Cali also have to abide by these labelling laws.
