Yep, glad we agree.
But unforch there are *certain* people that aren’t here for his hair.
Well, it’s not that KJ’s hair isn’t ~fiyah~ it’s that Riverdale fans aren’t pleased with the fact that a natural redhead wasn’t chosen for the role.
The Reddit post that kicked off the whole thread is as follows:
“What on Earth are they doing, not casting a natural red head as Archie? A part of it was supposed to be that Archie is red headed and that Betty and Veronica are a bit quirky and not put off by stereotypes. Another part of this was that Archie should have a naturally freckled face. In the 1930s – 1950s this was looked down on because the stereotype was that people who had to work outside had freckled faces, hence the term “freckled as a plow boy.” Betty and Veronica were ahead of their time and had no time for that kind of snobbery. If Archie doesn’t really have red hair, then he’s not Archie anymore and his girlfriends are not truly Betty and Veronica.”
Naturally, the Riverdale fandom, and namely KJ supporters, weighed in on the issue in support of the IRL Archie.
“I’d rather have someone who has to dye their hair and can act rather than a natural redhead who doesn’t know what they are doing,” one Redditor wrote.
“Natural redheads are like 2% of the population. It’s a lot easier to dye someone’s hair than to find a natural redhead that fits everything they were looking for while casting Archie,” wrote another.
A third fan brought up the fact that the producers initially searched for a natural redhead but were unable to find one who suited the role.

Real hair or not, KJ will always be the perf Archie in our eyes!
